The American Liberty series is the United States Mint's modern high-relief program, begun in 2015 and struck in .9999 fine gold and, from 2016, in silver. Each issue carries a newly commissioned portrait of Liberty rather than a historical one — the 2017 design marked the 225th anniversary of the Mint and was the first to depict Liberty as a Black woman.
These are low-mintage, deliberately artistic coins, and the high-relief strikes are difficult enough to produce that top-pop populations stay thin. PR 70 DCAM and MS 70 examples are the ones collectors chase.
Every coin is certified and listed with its grading service, grade and certification number.
