Series III is the Perth Mint's current Lunar cycle, opening with the 2020 Mouse and running through the present. It carries the newest reverse designs and, unusually for the program, a run of special issues that collectors have taken to quickly: the P125 anniversary privy marks, the dragon-privy strikes, the coloured half-ounce silvers and the gilt proofs.
Because Series III is current, condition expectations are higher — MS 70 and PF 70 are the working grades, and First Day of Issue and First Releases designations carry real weight on the label. The variants are where the scarcity sits: a privy-marked or coloured strike will often have a graded population in the low hundreds against a standard issue in the tens of thousands.
