Monkey years fall in 2004 in Series I, 2016 in Series II and 2028 in Series III. The 2004 half-ounce gold held here is a colorized Series I issue in MS 70 — colorized strikes from that chapter were produced in far smaller numbers than the standard reverses, and the graded populations reflect it.
The 2016 issues cover both metals: the 1 oz gold and the 1 oz silver, each certified and photographed in its own holder. 2016 also happens to be the year the Chinese Panda moved to metric weights, which is a useful reminder that Perth Mint kept the troy ounce throughout.
Every Monkey listed is a single certified coin with its grade and certification number stated.
Our Australian Lunar collector's guide covers the full twelve-animal cycle.
