The Perth Mint's Australian Lunar series is the longest-running zodiac coin program in modern numismatics, and it is the collection assay house is built around. Every coin on this page is a single, certified example — photographed in its own holder, listed with its grading service, certification number and, where it matters, its population at that grade.
The program runs in twelve-year chapters. Series I (1996–2007) established the twelve-animal cycle, with gold from the first year and silver joining in 1999; it remains the hardest to complete in gold, particularly in MS 70. Series II (2008–2019) introduced the redesigned reverses and the full fractional range that most collectors assemble sets in — 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 1 oz, 2 oz and 10 oz. Series III (2020–2031) carries the current designs, including the P125 anniversary privy marks and the colorized and gilt issues.
Sizes here range from 1/20 oz gold up to 10 oz gold, in .9999 fine gold and .999 fine silver — the silver moved to .9999 from 2017. Grades run from MS 68 through MS 70 and PR 69 to PR 70 DCAM, with First Strike, First Day of Issue and Early Release designations noted in the title where the holder carries them. Because each slab is unique, nothing on this page restocks — when a certification number sells, that exact coin is gone.
